The MUM1 (Multiple Myeloma Oncogene 1) Antibody is a highly specific immunohistochemical marker used in the diagnosis of B-cell, plasma cell, and certain T-cell neoplasms.
MUM1 is a 50 kDa nuclear protein encoded by the MUM1/IRF4 gene located on chromosome 6q23–25, functioning as a myeloma-associated oncogene.

MUM1 protein is expressed in plasma cells and activated lymphocytes. Detection of MUM1 expression through immunohistochemistry provides pathologists with valuable diagnostic information, especially for multiple myeloma, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), and plasmacytoma.

⚙️ Principle of the Assay

During the IHC process, the MUM1 antibody binds to the nuclear antigen in B and plasma cells. The HRP-conjugated secondary antibody then binds to the primary antibody, forming the antigen–antibody–HRP complex.
Upon addition of the DAB chromogen, a brown insoluble staining appears in the nuclei of positive cells, indicating MUM1 expression.
