D2-40 Antibody (Immunohistochemistry)
The D2-40 Antibody is a highly specific immunohistochemical marker used to identify tumors with lymphoendothelial differentiation. It is a well-established marker for Kaposi sarcoma, as well as other vascular neoplasms such as hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma and central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma.
The D2-40 antibody helps pathologists distinguish between lymphatic endothelial-derived tumors and other non-vascular neoplasms, making it an essential tool in diagnostic pathology.
🔬 Features and Benefits
-
Specific marker for lymphatic endothelium: Accurately identifies lymphatic and vascular differentiation in tumors
-
Clear and distinct staining: Brown staining visible in both cytoplasm and cell membranes
-
Broad diagnostic utility: Effective in detecting Kaposi sarcoma and vascular lesions
-
Compatible with standard IHC protocols: Suitable for all clinical and research pathology laboratories
-
High stability and reliability: Consistent performance at 2–8 °C with 18-month shelf life
⚙️ Principle of the Assay
During the IHC process, the D2-40 antibody binds to the target antigen within the tissue section. A secondary antibody conjugated with HRP attaches to the primary antibody, forming the antigen–antibody–HRP complex. When the DAB chromogen is added, a brown insoluble staining appears in the cytoplasm and membrane of positive cells, confirming the antigen expression.
💡 Diagnostic Applications
-
Diagnosis of Kaposi sarcoma
-
Identification of hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma
-
Detection of CNS hemangioblastoma
-
Differentiation of vascular and non-vascular tumors
-
