Although CD99 expression may appear in other neoplasms—such as neuroendocrine carcinoma, mesenchymal chondrosarcoma, synovial sarcoma, solitary fibrous tumor, AML, and lymphoblastic lymphoma—the strong and diffuse membranous positivity remains a hallmark feature of Ewing’s Sarcoma/PNET.
For this reason, CD99 is best interpreted in combination with other IHC markers in diagnostic panels.
