The S-100 Antibody is a key immunohistochemical marker used to identify neuroectodermal-derived tumors, including melanomas, schwannomas, and salivary gland tumors.
The S-100 protein family consists of calcium-binding proteins expressed in melanocytes, Schwann cells, Langerhans cells, chondrocytes, adipocytes, and glial cells.

In tumor pathology, positive staining for S-100 is typically observed in malignant melanomas, neural tumors, and adipocytic neoplasms, making it a primary marker for melanocytic and neural differentiation.
