p40 Antibody (Immunohistochemistry)
The p40 Antibody is a highly specific immunohistochemical marker used for the differential diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), particularly in the lung, from adenocarcinoma.
p40 is an isoform of the p63 transcription factor, involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and maintenance.
Compared to p63, p40 provides greater specificity because it is rarely expressed in lung adenocarcinomas, making it the preferred marker for differentiating lung SCC from adenocarcinoma.
Positive IHC staining for p40 shows brown nuclear staining in squamous cells, aiding in accurate histopathological identification.
