Cytokeratin 20 Antibody (Immunohistochemistry)

The Cytokeratin 20 (CK20) Antibody is a specific and widely used IHC marker.
It helps detect and differentiate epithelial tumors, especially those originating from
the gastrointestinal and urinary tracts. In addition, CK20 is an intermediate filament protein
expressed in gastric and intestinal epithelium, urothelium, and Merkel cells.

Moreover, CK20 shows strong positivity in adenocarcinomas of the colon, stomach, pancreas,
and biliary tract, as well as in Merkel cell carcinoma.
As a result, its staining pattern becomes a reliable tool for determining tumor origin.
In contrast, breast, lung, endometrial, and most non-mucinous ovarian carcinomas are usually CK20-negative.
Therefore, CK20 plays a major role in differential diagnosis.
