Cytokeratin 5&6 (CK5/6) Antibody (Immunohistochemistry)
The Cytokeratin 5&6 (CK5/6) Antibody is a key immunohistochemical marker used for identifying
mesothelioma, squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and a broad range of
epithelial tumors.
CK5 and CK6 are type II high–molecular-weight keratins expressed in several normal epithelial tissues, including the
breast, prostate, mesothelium, skin, and esophagus.
In diagnostic pathology, CK5/6 plays a crucial role in differentiating
mesothelioma from adenocarcinoma and detecting
squamous differentiation in tumors.
Positive IHC staining shows brown cytoplasmic coloration, making CK5/6 a reliable marker in evaluating epithelial-origin lesions.
