p16 Antibody (Immunohistochemistry)
The p16 (p16INK4A) Antibody is a key immunohistochemical marker widely used for the detection of HPV-associated neoplasms and other malignancies.
p16 is a cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) inhibitor that regulates the cell cycle by preventing the G1 to S phase transition through the inhibition of the Cyclin D–CDK4/6 pathway.
This mechanism suppresses abnormal cell proliferation, making p16 a vital tumor suppressor protein.
Overexpression of p16 is commonly observed in cervical carcinomas, as well as head and neck cancers, melanomas, gliomas, lymphomas, and leukemias.
In IHC staining, p16 typically exhibits brown nuclear and cytoplasmic staining in positive cells.
