Progesterone Receptor (PR) Antibody (Immunohistochemistry)
The Progesterone Receptor (PR) Antibody is a crucial immunohistochemical marker for the diagnosis and prognosis of hormone-dependent tumors, especially breast carcinoma.
PR, also known as NR3C3 (Nuclear Receptor Subfamily 3, Group C, Member 3), is an intracellular steroid receptor that mediates the effects of progesterone, a key female hormone involved in menstrual regulation, pregnancy, and mammary gland development.
The expression of PR in breast tumors is often associated with favorable prognosis and better response to endocrine therapies such as Tamoxifen and Fulvestrant.
In IHC staining, PR shows brown nuclear positivity in tumor cells, indicating the presence of progesterone receptors.
